I have a five year old Argentine black and white tegu. He is four feet long. He has a huge enclosure, but is a free roam. I'm concerned because he hasn't been eating much lately. He seems interested but turns his nose up at it. He has gotten thinner but he could afford to lose some girth. Is...
It takes time and patience. A lot of time and patience. I got my black and white as a juvenile wild caught from Florida. It took months for him to trust me. He is about 3 years old now. Talk to yours gently, be around him as much as possible. Gu's can be very temperamental. They are always...
Thank you! They get along with each other very well. I'm kind of surprised considering they are both male. The tegu is more dominant. He will just climb over the Savannah if he wants to steal a choice basking spot.lol
My black and white will come out and greet visitors on occasion. He likes to flick his tounge all over their shoes. Then he will stick his head up their pant leg and sniff them. Then he leaves to go do tegu things. He is a free roam ,but has a big enclosure. 8x4x6
Maybe you guys just smell good to him. He will be approaching tegu puberty or puberty as its known in tegu o.j owner circles. My Savannah monitor does something like that to me. He likes to lie on my chest and deep sniff me. Lol
Got my black and white as a juvenile
He never ate crickets. I feed him lean ground Turkey, f/t chicks. The occasional f/t mouse. Sometimes I add dubia roaches to the turkey. I put a container of like 10 in the deep freezer for 10 minutes. It stops them from moving. Lol. Also I give him the...
It's a bromance! A summer time bromance!! Lol. Roman the tegu is the more dominant. Elias the Savannah is only a yr and a half old and he is as big as Roman even though Ro is almost 3 and a half. Both are 47 inches nose to tip of tail. And yes i know they are a bit overweight, but they are...
My tegu is 4 feet long. He has a huge enclosure but I keep the door open all the time and he just comes and goes at will. However, he does spend most of his time basking in the enclosure
As long as the crickets aren't any longer than the space between her eyes. Also, dubia roaches are better . They dont smell like crickets do and they have more nutrition. Also, you can feed her pinky mice as well. And ground Turkey.
