    Red Tegus loses pattern?

Red Tegus are nice when babies. But all the old ones I see on the web seem to lose their patterns and just become all red and smeared. Black n white don't lose their patterns even when full grown. Do all reds lose their patterns? Why? Anyone know?

    whats your feeding schedule??

I have no idea. I got him when he was still small and green so probably not a wild Florida caught? But the guy who I got it from, at a pet show had 20 of them. He said they are crossed b/t red and b&w. I had to give him away though because I left to another country for 2 years. Now that I'm...

    whats your feeding schedule??

I have set up a doorbell that I trained my tegu to use when it's hungry. When he's hungry and reaches up the ramp and presses the doorbell, it's feeding time.

    Silly Tegu species arguments

Makes sense. Just curious though, is Chacoan an actual species? Or just another made up term tagged onto certain traits?

    Silly Tegu species arguments

I believe we're in agreement as you can see in my post when I talked about the use of the term "species". It's a term already defined. But what I'm saying is, if an owner must categorize his tegu, he's free find another way to categorize or describe it. I'm just saying, we're seeing the same...

    Tegu and sav enclosures

Hi guys! I had both Savs and Tegus in the past. I find that Savs are so much harder to keep healthy compared to tegus. I was probably just doing something wrong. Basically I have over 1 foot of soil/sand substrate for both my tegu and sav cages. The sav would burrow when it was younger...

    Tegu taming ?

I would buy a camera that activates with motion detection. Then you will know his schedule. My tegu comes out during normal work hours and roams around for about 5 hours, and goes to sleep when work hours are over!

    Silly Tegu species arguments

I noticed that there are some arguments about the different tegu "species" out there that are named based on their subtle or distinct differences in appearance. Blue, Chacoan, white head, etc. I saw many long threads arguing about these differences. But honestly it's all just semantics! I...

    Roadkill: Breeding and Hibernation

Hi Roadkill, and anyone else who knows things! I haven't been here in a while because I left the country for 2 years. Now I'm back and have a new cage built(will build even more later) I'm getting back into tegus. I currently have a colombian but I plan to breed Salvador(or black n white, red...
