My Boston (Zeppelin) and Bender get along great. At first Zeppelin couldn’t control his curiosity about Bender and would get all in his face sniffing and licking but Bender eventually got tired of it, hissed at Zeppelin and opened his mouth really wide. Now they respect each other’s space and...
His stomach feels soft, if I push in a little on his left side I can feel something a little firmer but not what I would call hard. He doesn’t seem to be in any discomfort when I do so either. Also, I thought the eggshells were good for calcium, is that wrong?
Hey y’all I’m a little concerned about Bender. He’s been pooping on a regular basis but lately they’ve been very watery and he is starting to look bloated. Has anyone dealt with this before and should I be concerned? Diet hasn’t changed, he eats ground turkey with mashed hard boiled eggs (with...
So up until about the middle of August I could pretty much count on Bender my 1.5 year old male always being awake and basking around 12:00p.
Since then I barely see him up. I know he moves around his enclosure because things will be knocked over or moved around, but I rarely see him. So I...
Hey y'all, I've had Bender about a month. He is pretty tame already, does not run from me and will some times come check me out, if I'm sitting cross legged he will even try to burrow in between my legs.
Now that we've established that I'm not something he has to fear I want to start teaching...
Great thread! I'm going through the same process with my new buddy Bender. I got him from Mr. Irwin as well. He came out fairly tame, not very defensive or flighty just doesn't like being picked up mostly. Now I'm just trying to get him to trust and like me. Good luck!
Well he didn't care for the rat pup I offered him (ball python did though) but he did chow down on some venison-mealworm-strawberry-grape-trout-quail egg casserole lol. Then he went exploring the living room for half an hour. Basking comfortably on his patio now. Looks like my boy is healthy!
That could definitely be the case. The fluorescent is really weak past 12" IIRC so I thought it'd be ok. I guess removing it helped. Oh and he also ate today. Venison, meal worms, and strawberries covered in quail egg.
Found him basking today and he had both eyes open, I left the fluorescent off this morning on my way in from work. I've got him on my lap now and he's sleeping. It's like if he's going a short distance he says "screw or not worth opening my eyes" but if he's going to be walking for a minute he...
I'm gonna see if he responds to live prey tomorrow, he's about 2 feet-ish from snout to vent, any suggestions as far as size goes? I was thinking rat pup.
I've only had him since last Thursday, and he's done it since he came out of the box. Unless he was getting overexposed living with Mr. Irwin down in Homestead, FL then I dont see that as being likely. His current UV setup may be a little overkill but I've never seen him basking, all he does is...
Hey yall. I got Bender this past Thursday. It's Monday now and I have not been able to get him to eat. I've taken him out of his house and offered him venison, mango, canteloupe, canned omnivorous lizard food, and a quail egg with no success. All he does all day is sleep, I never even see him...
