Cut, healing or infected?

I am unsure as to how my Chacoan, Natsu, aquired this cut. Possibly on a rock, possibly when he escaped, I am unsure. I have a vet appointment for saturday. If anyone could tell me what they think it would be greatly appreciated. Also, the gel-like looking stuff in it is neosporin.

Alright, thanks for the input guys, though I was wondering if it scabbing up the color it was was normal.
