ok, lets see if i can't get a few respectable pics of spyro my aussie waterdragonon here.
lol, he's a dickhead. lacerates my arms up real nice whenever i clean his mouth. i love him to death though. and he's just trying to make sure i know he's boss. he really likes me, he's just imbarrassed.
dude, i suck! why do i allways have trouble postin pics here? are they too big?
whut i found out whit my waterdragons is that they dont like beeing grabed but when u scoop them up whit ur hand under the belly and than let m be they r just fine i cant see ur pics but i do love all water dragons they have great personaletys and acktive cool lizards
that aussie looks sweet kharnifex wish my male was that big already cuz i love to see sum hatchys
my old green i think is getting old he had an abces a while ago that i cutted open and cleaned and it left a litle scar but healed up nice whit sum antibiotics but i do hope he whil get atleast 8 years older cuz hes definetly my favourite non monitor and the lizard that got me back in herps after quiting for a few years
yea, spyro allways looks pissed off. sometimes when he's passed out in his water he looks happy, but 90% of the time, just pissed.
spyro blew up in size. good uvb and a varied diet purely of insects. when i first got spyro i fed him a lot like i feed my tegu. calcuim fortified turkey, talapia, goldfish or minnows. he stopped growing for about 6 months and developed that little gap in front of his mouth.
i started to worry, and investigate all over the place on why he was seeming to be getting a bit unhealthy when he was eating so much. turns out insectavores can't handle a lot of vitamin A in their food. i was poisoning him with too much preformed vitamin A and he was letting me do it!!
nowadays he gets dubia cockroaches (His Favorite) kingworms, bait store nightcrawlers and the occasional (once every 2-3 months) small adult mouse.
I love your older males tail. i wish the aussies got those cool swimming tails. also the blue on his throat. spyro gets some blue shades to his head and back right after a shed, but it dulls back to brown/grey real fast.
lol, after switching to a pure insectavore diet he shed for the first time in a year after a week. then shed again the next month. now he's gaining weight normally.
good uvb big tall tanks and tons of bugs seems to be the winning ticket for growth.
it'd prolly be the same with the asian waterdragons as well. just add humidity as they need alot more than the aussies do.
do you notice any behaviore differences between the asian and the two australian waterdragons? they are so similar, i've allways wondered if they act the same.
I picked up these New Guinea Water Dragons (Hypsilurus godefroy) last September at the Tampa show. They were in really lousy shape and I wasn't even sure they would survive the shipping to Michigan. They did, but it's been a real challenge to get them acclimated and eating well enough to gain some weight. I think I finally have a handle on it and they are looking better every day. These guys are super fast and aggressive, and have some really impressive fang-like teeth in the front of their mouths.
the difrence iv seen between the 2 is that the aussies r more standofish but look better and they eat more veggys my greens only take aple ore banana and i have to move it to the aussies eat rigth of their bowl but they both love inseckts (locusts dubia and earthworms ) its funny to feed them lots of small spiders that r in a litle house plant and just hatched they grab m whit the tong i also like hypsylurus i think those r acktualy more related to aussies than the green ones i speacialy like the the boyds waterdragons iam also surching info about all green and aussie localtys and the difrence between them its verry interesting to see the colors and difrence in size in difrent localtys
just the basic veggies and fruits its a mather of trying so if u have sum cut offs from dinner ore feel like eating a banana try giving it usualy it has to be hand fed to m first but ones they know they can eat it u better use the bowl
I was told thoose dragons were actually hypsilurus nigrigularis, some guy has them on his website and calls them forest dragons.
