At least Tegu's don't have the ball python issue, BP's can really go off food for what seems like months, very frustrating! Tegus will eat you out of house and home if you let them, and I'm sure you will not have any problems with your babies very soon. My Tegu was born in Feb 2021 and growing...
I use organic potting soil, mixed with organic peat moss and my guy LOVES it, he sleeps in his little burrow that he makes, you can't even see him. I keep it misted so it doesn't get too dry and his sheds are always great.
His tent sounds like some place I'd like to live in... I'm sorry the news is heart breaking. I sure hope all your scaley kids get awesome homes, screen the people carefully. Socrates is really going to miss you too.
Well Peanut seems to love his 'new' enclosure...(he was in a 40 gal, but now is in a 4x4x2 until he outgrows it). I didn't think Tegus were climbers but he really is all over everything and under the dirt, and hanging out on the universal rocks background too. He's curious and bit my phone...
Thank you for the encouragement, I"m not sure of the gender yet, but this baby seems to be a dominant male..his jowls are pretty big for a little squirt, and I think I see two bumps underneath but i am by no means an expert there!

i just hope he mellows out, he is such a pill and still tail whips and tried to bite at first when being picked up.
