Well like I said, in the wild Columbians don't really eat fruit. Mostly whole prey items, so if I were you I would probably start with small rodents because I think if left in his cage for a while he would eat it or try live pinkies
Well if you do get him, they aren't as omnivorous as Argentines. Feed him lots of high protein insects, quail eggs, small rodents, just cause he can swallow it doesn't mean he should eat it when it comes to rodents. Feed multiple smaller rodents compared to one or two larger rodents. Don't...
Thanks man, it was so sad. My female loved to bask and hangout with him. They really interacted. I hope the same for Diesel and my female, her name is Maya.
Here's newer pics! And he's a bit hissy but pretty calm once he got used to his temporary enclosure. He will be hibernating in the 8x4x4 enclosure with my 2 1/2 foot female once he gets a bit bigger in the next month. They grow quick!!!!
As you guys might know from previous posts, my beautiful male hybrid Tegu died due to a very serious prolapse most likely caused from rapid growth. But yesterday I went to the Canadian Reptile Breeders Expo and picked up a beautiful male juvenile Black and White Tegu! He is a bit moody but hey I...
Holy **** dude those look beautiful. Nicest looking hybrid I have ever seen! I can literally see blue Tegu traits, red Tegu traits and bw Tegu traits! Bw x red usually just look like a pure bw Tegu but when you add blue it really brings out the red traits!
That's great! Just be careful as Hybrids face a lot of defects and in this case the red x blk and white hybrid kind of gets the worst of each and tend to grow quick and have a number of unusual health problems. Go pure or with a hybrid that doesn't have normal black and white in it. The chacoan...
Mine at a little over 2 years old, eats a ball of turkey diet with added vitamins, fruits, egg and veggies once a week. I don't over feed her but I feel comfortable feeding once a week because I know that when she does eat, its full of nutrition so I am more on the quality over quantity diet and...
All depends on your Tegu. I had a 9 month old male that ate almost double of that of my 2 year old female. Some tegus are big eaters and some aren't. You just gotta figure out your Tegu and what he/she prefers.
I know I am late on this but May long weekend, my Male Hybrid Thor had a pretty serious prolapse and as we know if treated by a vet Tegus can make a full recovery from prolapsed organs. Sadly the only reptile vet in our area was closed along with all other vets due to it being the long weekend...
Honestly, after having raised a tegu to an adult and now raising another one. That "chill" behavior comes with time, no taming techniques will get you that behavior. You should obviously start taming now by getting the tegu used to you and what not but that chill behavior is something most adult...
This is Thor my
Canadian Captive Bred Hybrid
He is 50/50 bw/red
Now I know he doesnt look as nice as laurafl's babies but I have grown to appreciate his darker coloration.
