This story happened today on Long Island, NY. A guy was selling burmese pythons and was busted by the Feds. The USFWS passed a law against Burmese pythons banning their sale in NY without a permit and also banning their interstate transport. On the radio today, theyt said that they were dangerous to humans and that they were wild animals and an invasive species. They were captive bred according to the story. Burmese pythons could never live in NY because of the temps. I could understand a permit in FL, but why here? How long before Big Brother with all their lawyer politicians determines, based on their extensive knowledge of reptiles, that our beloved tegus, monitors, and snakes are dangerous wild animals. Maybe government should stick to foreign policy and securing the borders instead of worrying about our pets, trans fats, and sodas over 16oz. Maybe we should all stick to hamsters and parakeets.
