I was wondering if anybody knows what species are used by Exo-terra and Zoo-Med in their canned snails? Thanks.

Well, I still haven't found the answer to what species they use. However, I did find Helix sp. are edible and I imagine they are being used. Im just not sure on the legality of growing those snail species? I was asking the question because I am looking for small species of snails to cultivate to use as feeders. Apple snails and Mystery snails are a bit too big for me to house. Does anybody have opinions on other species of (non-toxic) snails to use that wont get big?

i'm not sure where you're located but this sp: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helix_aspersa" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helix_aspersa</a><!-- m -->
is commonly found here in CA and i have been considering how to cultivate them as a food source for my tegu. i worry about the possible pesticides left over and i think it may be best to start from the egg but i haven't had the time to undertake such a project.
