I came across this guy today and he/she has the best prices I have seen in awhile of B. Dubias. I thought I would share with everyone incase you wanted try your hand at a colony or add more to your existing one. I have not ordered from them but might in the future. Haven't heard anything on them either...let me/us know if you do order and how it went.

You wont believe me but we dont have roaches in my city and around and the other day I found one, first time I saw one, which probably travelled in a truck from another city and since I read that you feed tegus with them, I could determinate that it was a Blaptica Dubia, huge male and also played dead when handle as I read before, pretty amazing the things you can learn. I still didnt get it for Juancho since I didnt know in what conditions it was. :p

I found this site to be very cheap as well.

Unfortunately they seem to be out of the bigger ones, they had VERY good prices.

Mike, do you want to start up a dubia colony?
I should be getting a job fairly soon, so I can pay for half of it (equipment included)...my father is the only obstacle between me and the job...I think you know the story.

That's crazy you dont have roaches, they are everywhere here. How many is a good number to start a colony?

I think it depends on how many animals you're going to be feeding roaches to and how soon you want to start using the ones in your starter colony.. if just a few animals i'd probably start with 50-100.

Yeah, 1000 is a little unnecessary and you will pay a pretty penny. If you want to start feeding almost immediately your best bet would be to get 100 adults and 100 mixed nymphs. If you don't mind waiting 3-6 months purchase 200 mixed nymphs.

I just have the one baby tegu. Do you think ground turkey, frozen pinkies, and dubia roaches will be a good staple for him while he's young?
