hi yall,

just got a baby Arentine red and I am wondering how often should I handle her daily? I have had her for 3 weeks and she is a little over a month old. I typically stick my hand in her tank a few times a day then let her out in my bathroom and tub while I hang out and let her crawl on me. She is still def afraid of me and tolerates me. Any thoughts and advice?

As much as you are comfortable doing so is fine, once a day or a few times a week, both are fine. Less when they are in shed (they get grumpy & its uncomfortable). They're smart and will push you if you let them =P avoid reinforcing any bad behavior like squirming or being flighty... only put them back in the enclosure once they are calm for a minute or two. Look into some cut resistant sleeves and/or gloves if you need to avoid getting scratched up. They are much more skittish when babies (and combative during puberty) but should mellow out more as they age up, especially with consistent attention.
