Hello folks, how are ya, My name is Randy! Currently I am going into my fourth year of veterinary student and a new tegu parent. I have been herping for a while. I currently own a big ball python, an albino ball python, a australian carpet python, a pittbull and A RAD COLOMBIAN TEGU AND A COOL REG ARGENTINE BABY!

i hope you guys dont mind sharing tips these are my first time herping large lizard species.

Hey!! Congratulations! Where did you get the Tegus? (I've gotta start using the phrase "herping" more) I have a 2 yr old bad boy from "Tegus Only "(Rodney Irwin) in Florida. I love these animals! There's lots of info on this forum. ... Good Luck!

thanks for the warm welcome guys, still kind of learning to work the site. I actually got my colombian from a guy in augusta georgia who just happen to be breeding. although I got my red shipped to me from Underground reptiles

Hes just coming up to 2 years old and just over 3 foot nose to tip .

do you have pictures of him near an object, im trying to gauge how big tonka will get.

I'm not sure on his weight and no I don't have any pics that will give you some idea on his size ........ but I will try getting you some over the next few days if I remember ...

My 2 yr old (I believe he's a male) is 39", and weighs about 9 lbs. Could be a little more on the weight, but that was about a month ago. (oops - just realized you might have just wanted the Colombian info - sorry, my male is an Argentine B/W)

To me, they grow fast considering their lifespan! I got Skully right at a year ago, and he's more than doubled in size. I think he was 17" at that time, now he's 39". I don't do constant food, I do supplement about once a week (in his ground turkey - not the lean stuff), and started giving him pinkies as soon as I thought he could swallow them. He's on regular frozen mice now, and can eat 2 along with the turkey, or gizzards or whatever meat. I do get the mice at about half the price of common pet stores by going to LLL Reptile, out here on the west coast. Don't forget that they love a raw egg. (Big reason why Florida has such issues with them...) I just crack it into a shallow bowl, and crush the egg shell in it. Sometimes he finishes the shells, sometimes not. Here we get 10 frozen mice for $10. I haven't looked on-line, but I know that LLL Reptile ships if you need it.
