Is it necessary to drop temps during brumation?

So my tegu recently began his brumation, and it was a little unexpected. I was trying to keep temps up to avoid brumation, but a recent cold spell apparently triggered it. Now that it started, is it necessary for me to follow through and drop temps so he can cycle through it? Or can I be raising temps and extending photo period to bring him out of brumation? This only started about one week ago. Thoughts?
