Is new tegu big enough to sex?age guesses?

Hey guys.... do you think my tegu Ludwig is big enough that I should be able to see the scales or feel bbs by now??? I just got him at a reptile show and the guy told.me he/she was 6 months old but I dont think it is possibly that old yet and it eats like a mack truck for me lol??? Thanks guys!!!
Ps the plastic container is what the guy gave me to take him home in. But put the picture up so you can see the size compared to the plastic container. Thanks again.

Sometimes when you get reptiles at shows/expos, they're being sold by a broker. They aren't necessarily fed the best, so it's possible s/he is that old. Looks to be in great condition, though. I can't really give any advice on sexing because it'd be little more than a guess at this point. Be careful of feeding him directly on the substrate with sticky food.
