Congrats on your tegu and welcome to the site. Lots of useful ifo in these threads.
Right off I suggest keeping him off of your shoulder if standing. Chances are good he'll leap and could easily hurt himself. Also. even if tame, still add a worn shirt to his hide for a while.

Yeah I made the mistake last night and had her on my shoulder and when to sit down she jumped and landed on the floor, scared me half to death
