Separate them,.. unless you're trying to breed them,.. why stress either one of them out. One from not getting any and the other from constantly being harassed. She may not be mature enough or ready yet.

We were under the impression that she wouldn't be ready until after hibernation.... how true is this?

That's why we were discussing when the heat comes. Are there any physical signs for.when a female is of breeding age and when the right time is?

I believe it is based on her size. You don't want a small female trying to breed.

She's uh, pretty massive. Looks like a manatee. If I had to guess.... over 15lbs, 4ft. Long. She's a beast.

I'd keep them separate for now. Even if you do plan to breed them later. Males will generally bite the female when they mate and some females end up taking quite a bit of damage. Some even end up scarred. He could just be a hormonal male, maybe he can't help his urges.

I think she's going to kick his ass.

Ill keep them apart for now.... she's getting pissed.

He bit her tail when she was running from him....
She's breedable... but not in the mood for it.
They'll remain apart until he can get his hormones under control.
