This guy was 7 inches long back in June! These things just get big in a hurry. Great personality with this one. Just been laid back as all get out. Now, that can't be said for the other one I have. He is 100% pisser, so I don't take pics of him. He doesn't care.

Here are a couple pics of the enclosure. It is a 8x4x3. The windows are made of 1/2 inch plexi glass. It is the same stuff they use to make our Metro bus stop waiting areas. It has been very durable. Also, I built the cage around a galvanized horse trough. It is working well so far.

Nice, fat, happy savy! I love the bellies they have as adults, they're cute. It's nice to see a larger savy, most of the ones I've seen in my area are small and sickly.

Total length is right over 30 inches. And the fat boy weighs in at close to four pounds. It is amazing the girth they put on (remembering this thing was hatchling size 5 months ago.
This is the third Sav I have had and all have been different. One was tolerant but gave you warnings, another was pure piss and vinegar mixed with tail whips, and this guy in the pictureds is just as mellow as can be. Sav personalities are so hard to predict due to the millions that are out there... you are just going to have so many opportunities to score whatever personality comes packaged with it. And because pet stores (where I got this guy) don't exactly keep them up to speed heat wise... they always seem 'calm' in the store. And the fact that dying savs seem to be sooooo nice. I don't do anything special to tame them, they all get the same treatment. I feed them (lots of dubias and chicks with some gizzards/hearts occassionally) and I pick them up to soak them just to keep them 'pretty' and have an excuse to let them crap in the tub (wife loves that let me tell you). Anyway, tame as a B/W? My blue is tame, my large 14 lb female is NOT!!! Again, just a mixed bag with the personalities but overall, Savs tend to me more mellow than most other MONITOR species out there. Savs and Blackthroats (also had one of those monstrosities) are the most tolerant of interaction with us. My argus crosses, water monitors are just so freaking high strung... they were just pure bottled energy and 'twitchy'. Savs just want to lay there with a big full belly. They really put away the food.
The bellies on these things don't go with the legs that are attached to them for sure!!! He just drags that gut around with him. I think this guy is going to be a big dude for sure. Eats often, uses high heat (up past 140s) if it is available, and is in constant shed. I am pumped to see how he turns out. I am pumped about his potential as a massive lump of lizard awesomness.

Savs (healthy ones) are still one of my favs. They are a great lizard to 'keep'. They don't hide all day, they are curious enough to engage you, you don't have to worry about them stressing and not eating, and they got a great smiley face to em. Oh, and they can get huge! :) Good stuff.
