Just brought home my 6 month old male from the reptile super show in Pomona CA. I have dart frogs, geckos and have had bearded dragons but am really looking forward to a more interactive intelligent reptile. Although a bit of trepidation mostly excitement.
I've been a herpeculturist I decided to roll the dice and get a Golden Tegu. Fast as hell, nippy, flies out to give me a heart attack. honestly he's a bit scary. Any good training n g tips or suggestions would be a huge help and greatly appreciated.
Hello everyone I'm a newbie I've had many reptile but just got my first black an white tegu
I am a new B&W Argentine Tegu owner. I did LOTS of research first, but still have lots to learn!
Hi! I’m new to Tegu talk and need some advice. I am planning to get an Argentine black and white tegu, but I’m not sure about my research. I was wondering how often do you feed a baby tegu (0-6 months) and a juvenile tegu (7-12 months) vegetation (fruits with some vegetables). I was also wondering in terms of feeders can I feed my tegu dubia roaches only.
Hey!! I know im a little late to respond, but hopefully its still relevant! Ur supposed to feed every 2/3 days, but until they come out of brumation they may be less hungry. Yes, also, you do need to feed more than just roaches. They need fruits, veggies, meats and all topped with calcium powder WITHOUT d3. Look up what foods are okay ALWAYS before adding a food to the plate.
For people looking for hatchlings in the US… RosecityreptilesTX is a good place to purchase. No scams 100% real he has a YouTube too so you can see what tegus have paired, They have all different tegus.
I need help. They just passed a law recently in Florida making it so owning tegus is illegal. I’m working with Florida wild life center to try to make my tegu legal so I can keep her. I’ve had her for a year now and these requirements and paperwork are really not easy. I can’t find a suitable container for transportation. Also if anyone has done this paperwork for the CDIP I need some help.
I am looking to adopt a tegu. Please help me with adoption. I in North Jersey, north bergen. 92930111819
Hey hey I have been meaning to reach out to you and say hello... I have been going to the reptile shows and still no luck in finding a black and white hatchling yet... I’m still looking
sorry didn’t see this, are you still looking ? If so I can possibly send some numbers that might have some your way
hello I'm new at this. so I have just a question just wondering if I'm doing this right. for my baby. Her name is X she is about 3 years old. She is beautiful, she has been shedding about 1 month now but hasn't shed her tail is this normal. I have only had her about 2.5 months.
hello there,
congratulations on your black & white argentine tegu. I got 2 of them back in March named Chompa & Tegoots-Rex. Initially, Tegoots-Rex settled in and started eating like a champion. Chompa took at least 2 months before she felt like home. Fast forward to December and Chompa is bigger than Tegoots-Rex lol.
Good luck, and a Happy Healthy New Year to you!

That's awesome:)
Thanks yeah she is my third reptile ever.
Any tips would be appreciated
It sounds like you love your babies! I love my dragon but the love I have for my tegu is different. I really connect with him and I have a huge respect for him and I try to make sure he knows it. My fiancé and my little one are both jealous of my lizards, as I spend almost all my free time with them somewhere on my body lol I’m only a beginner when it comes to tegus though so I can always learn more!!! :)

They are awesome. I find the more you take them out to explore the more they adapt. I've noticed they've learned to use the bathroom outside their tanks the more they are out. I guess you can call that potty training a lizard . I'm sure your babies are in great hands.
Help! Making an appointment with a vet ASAP, but want opinions here. For the last few days my red guy has been aggressive and he seems “wobbly”. He tries to look around and his head starts swaying like he’s “drunk”. Then he starts freaking out. He’s right at a year old.
