Good luck on getting a Tegu! Please post pics when you get him. If this is your first big lizard and you are looking for a more hands on pet then I would recommend an Argentine Tegu rather then a Columbian, they can be a handful from what I hear!

Thats a great choice! When you are inquiring about it make sure you specify Argentine Black and White as alot of pet stores will put Black and White Tegu and won't specify Columbian.
I believe there are some UK members on this board and I want to say they dealt with a company in Bristol for their Tegus

Technically there are Columbian Blacks and Argentine Black and Whites but over the years the title for Columbians have become Black and White. Know your stuff when you start looking to buy. I was at a Big Al's and the title on the tank said Black and White so I asked the employee and he (their reptile specialist) informed me it was indeed an Argentine B&W. When he pulled the little guy out from hiding I could see clearly that it was Columbian due to the random pattern, and the large Loreal scale between the eye and nostril. Columbians have one loreal scale and the Argentine has two ( its more like one large split in half). Here is a link so you can easily tell them apart.
