Im pretty terrible at guessing ages, but it sounds like your guy is really young. Under a year at least.

When it comes to tegus, age can be a difficult thing to determine based on size as tegus grow at different rates. As @Aardbark said, your tegu at that size is most probably under a year old and probably close to 4 or so months, give or take a few.
