If I were you, I would try offering a new foundationless comb section with brood and honey or new comb from a cut-out, if you do removals. At least new comb IMO would be more digestable. I've worked with old comb I had to cut with a sawzall, no kidding & I just can't see a gu digesting that very effectively.
