I am new to caring for tegus and i know pretty much everything they need but there's just one problem, the people we bought him from a few weeks ago said he was wild caught so it was obvious right away that he would be difficult to handle. As of now though he no longer perceives me as a threat and he no longer makes that weird breathing noise and gives me a view of his gullet. He also let's me pet him and is comfortable enough to sleep in my presence. but everytime I have him out he always likes to hide and never wants to lay on my lap and stuff. Now an important factor in bonding is Physical contact and in order for this relationship to work he's gonna need to be more comfortable to do so. Does anyone know if wild caught tegus are capable of acting identical to their captive bred counterparts??? And if so how do i get them to do just that
