Hey guys! I have read that starting mid October it is best to stop feeding so there is no food in my tegu when she hibernates. But I feel like I am starving her...we haven't fed her for about a week but she still comes out and basks through the day and completely destroys her tank looking for loose bugs or anything to eat!! If we open the door to the enclosure she comes running over hoping we have food. Should we continue to feed her until she really starts slowing down or what?? This will be her second winter.

perhaps she doesn't want to hibernate yet. As far as I know when they are ready to hibernate they won't accept food you're trying to give her.

If she's hungry and looking for food then feed her. She'll will not eat if she's not hungry and before hibernating.
