I live in Philadelphia and could not find any cypress mulch so I used a foot of peat moss and 3 inches of plain unpainted hardwood mulch from Home Depot as the substarate in my new 10x4 cage. I've had my 2 tegus (red 2.5' and a giant 3' ) in the cage for 2 weeks so far and have not seen any problems but I was wondering if peat moss or hardwood mulch are dangerous in any way.
