Tail , need second opinion

So my recently rescued tegu has this on his tail. I think he might have been bit or stepped on and that's why it's like that. I'm scheduling a vet visit soon but would still like some feedback on what anyone thinks it might be or is.

It is regrowth from a broken tail. It is not coming in straight.

Is there anything I can do in the meantime while I take him to the vet?? Any lotions , solutions ?

So just let it run it's course ?

Well, the new tail isn't coming in straight. A vet could cut it and see if next growth is straight or you could let it grow as it does.
