Wood stains...

Hi, are wood stains safe to use when building an enclosure? And if so, am i correct in saying that the assembly steps would be 1) stain, 2) sealant, 3) silicone cracks for waterproofing?

Any other input you could provide would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I don't know about particular wood stain, but the steps are in order. I would think sealing the wood would keep wood stain safe from being a contaminant, but I'm no carpenter.
