Same here with my red. He wakes up late, doesnt want to eat as often (less than 50% of what he used to eat) and goes to sleep early. I let him be though. If he keeps going like this I will cut down the light. No need to have it on when he wants to sleep
I think it's great that you ask first before starting with a tegu, but can you also say what kind of experience you've had (if any) with reptiles?
If you have 0 experience with reptiles I say: Go for a bearded dragon, they are easy to handle and easy to take care of plus from day 1 pretty...
You are not the only one who said that about his eyes. I dunno about other red's but mine certainly has been using eyeliner :P Check this photo and you'll see even better (its somewhat out of focus, but you get the idea).

I actually named him Biggie because it means big in sranang tongo (the language they speak in suriname)
(my dog is called dagu because it means dog in sranang tongo :P)
I'm half dutch half surinam, that's why i usually give surinam names to my pets.
