baby tegu afraid of worms?

hes 9 weeks old and he likes crickets and eggs so far but i bought him some waxworms and mealworms i cut off the head on a mealworm and he wouldnt eat it and then i gave him a bowl of waxworms and he wouldnt go near them and would get away from the bowl so i set a waxworm next to him and he ran away from it and i set it next to him again and he just grabbed it by its head and started shaking it and threw it

anybody else have a problem feeding their tegu worms i dont know what the heck is wrong with him

The shaking and "throwing" is their attempt at eating stuff that moves. My tegu does this with roaches to disable them.
