today im going to start building my little tegu's enclosure:)
it's outside, so does anyone have any advice on keeping it toasty in the winter??

What are the temps like where you are from, summer highs and winter lows?? Are you going to keep him outside year round?

summer, high 80's sometimes low 90's.
winter doesnt get too bad, on some days it does. low thirties to low forties.
i want to keep him out year round. so i need ideas on how to keep it warm in there durin winter months

Your best bet is a pre-made underground hide of some sort below the frost line. It'll help keep your GU cooler as well on the hotter days of summer.

I would say use insilation like styrofoam boards you can buy at homedepot or lowes. Thats what i did for my sailfin, and i covered it all in Tile Grout for looks and she climbs on it, but for the tegu i wouldnt say u would need to use it. I would say make like house framing just not as many studs and the outer layer plywood with foam on that then for inside the enclosure put a finished sheet of plywood or melamine or something. That should be perfect. Hope his helps!!!

Rango only has 2 front toes, hes an argentine so hes larger than a colombian but he seems to do alright scooping dirt around. You could use a cat litter pan (upside down) and surround the outside of it with mulch, some mulch inside of course lol.

thats a pretty clever idea :) thanks
what i have for now is a little hut covered in substrate for him, but he's quickly outgrowing it :p
