Burrowing?

Do red tegus like to burrow?

From what I have read and from what people here say, all tegu species burrow.

Not only do they burrow, they seem to like to redecorate and move the "furniture" around as well. My Red, EVA is never quite satisfied with her burrow and has to dig holes just to see what is down there. Maybe it is a girl thing...LOL

If your Tegu is burrowing and moving things around then all it is doing is changing it's habitat to suit it, let it do that, it will be happier for it

Thank you Madame. I remember my ex-girlfriend moving my furniture frequently and she too was happier for it.

Our Red Tegu Owen the past couple of days has been knocking over his plant and digging big holes(spraying dirt everywhere,including in his water dish). I have 3 theories,1) Trying to burrow. 2) Looking for food, but i feed him 2-3 times a day. 3) Or he is trying to make space in his tank, but we will be moving him into his new enclosure soon. Any thoughts?

It sounds like he is just trying to burrow. I wouldn't worry about it.

Probably just trying to burrow or curious what's under every inch of dirt. Odin did that too before he got moved to his bigger enclosure. No worries.
