It's been a while since you've interacted with it?

Yesterday I saw my orthopedist and he told me I'm going to have to have shoulder surgery. I haven't scheduled a date yet. I know I won't be able to lift anything for a bit, then I have to gradually increase the amounts I can lift. I'm guessing it will be a few months before I can do things as I usually do.
I'm wondering if my tegus might be more grouchy or uneasy if I go a while without interacting much... I have a feeling Rango will be a little different. He seems to be the most sensitive to change and such a people-tegu lol.

I'm thinking about trying to encourage hibernation/brumation. Start cutting the lights back a little more. Hopefully I can get them to go down, I think it would be a lot easier for them and myself. I'm still trying to plan it all out before I set a date. My boyfriend isn't really a reptile person, he'll feed them for me and help spot clean but thats about it.

Its always possible, I have recently experienced minor behavioral changes in my tegus when I was sick for like a week but they bounced right back within a few days, I hope all goes well with your surgery, I'll keep u in my thoughts and prayers

Thanks, obviously I'm hoping for a shorter recovery but I won't know all the details until I go back wednesday. It looked like they were slowing down but now they're all back up and going full speed.

I can totally relate I am going through some health stuff so I cannot spend nearly the amount of attention with my tegus. I do let them free roam alot so they still stay used to me. I have tried encouraging hiernation but they are just as acctive as they have ever been. They are up at least 8 hours a day.
