One day my tegu Spartacus started poooing out rocks like a Pachinko machine! 14 stones in all!
This is a mineral craving. Spartacus at one-year-old now has outgrown this habit, but not before dropping a couple of one inchers!

They're craving for minerals causes them to eat stones of various shapes and sizes. In their natural environment they get minerals from the waters they drink oh, and the foods they eat. It is always good to put some sand and rocks in your tegus water.

What a beauty! I was just wondering what the stones look like -I've never heard of a Tegu eating them like that. You know they're not urates, right? They're actual stones? When my male had impaction probs, he had large yellow urates that were very hard, and solid like a stone. Anyway.... I hope he's ok now! BTW - are you sure that's a male? Looks like the jowls are forming, but it's hard to tell from the pic.
