What's up everyone...so now that I have my JamxWhitey baby in I'm planning on getting one of this years extremes  and I know they grow fast so instead of getting something small then getting another enclosure when it hits close to being a yearling and maybe even having to get a 3rd enclosure for it when it's fully mature I wanted to know what will be a great size enosure to start off with to last me until I have to upgrade to the final enlcosure? And also I wanted to know is it better to build my own enclosure or can I buy something ready made like a boamaster or vision cages and etc...What's the best way to go?

The first year for my baby tegus I keep them in a terrarium inside and during the day in an outside cage (18" x 30"). I don't leave them outside over night just because I like the idea of handling them twice a day when they are young. The second year when they wake up they follow the same routine until night time temps are around 55-60, then they stay out all summer in a (4' x 6') with me handling them a few times a week. By their third year they are outside from the time they wake up to the time they go down at which time I pull them back inside. They are kept in a 5' x 13' outdoor cage.

I would recommend building your own, it's cheaper and you can build it how you want it. I like having three stages of outdoor caging, provides me with a lot of flexibility.
