So I got my tegu Tegillis to eat his first fuzzy last week and today he ate his second. Today was also the first day feeding outside of his enclosure which was a great success.

I am super glad that your tegu is eating. But, this is and can be dangerous for your tegu.. Your have dirt mix with what looks like forrest bedding or cypress mulch, Your tegu is eating with no food plate, I say its can become dangerous because in any event that your tegu is eating a meal, they tend to mix the wood chips in with there food and this is the mean reasons lizards constantly see the vet due to impaction issues. Because the lizard ate the bedding with there food, this is very painful to lizards because it causes blockage and it can turn into a very high vet bill. Impaction can also be fatal..

Yes I am aware I used a bowl and he was tong fed that particular fuzzy then ran off. I have begun feeding him in the living room in a plastic tote. On a side note he has gone into shed and so far it is coming off very well.

Justin, i'm glad that you are aware of it, I wasn't trying to be rude. But many people do not understand about impaction issues with lizards..
If the shed is coming of very well, then that means your temps and humidity is on point.. Yes for some odd reason that get too excited which eating and run off with food still hanging from there mouth LOL...

So my little guy is about 19" long so far I have been feeding him 2 Fuzzie and 3 adult male dubia roaches daily. I'm just curious as to how much others feed their tegus of similar size. I would feed him more roaches but he seems to lose interest after 3 but will readily eat a second fuzzy.

It's growing, so let it eat its fill with a variety. Always dust with calcium.

After roaches try some superworms or horn worms, I personally do beef liver and heart at least twice a week. Many people may disagree with that and thats their opinion. Try gold fish, smelts, whitebaits, nightcrawlers, carbs, crayfish, sliversides, and I offer egg yolk on weekend. So i do a very good mixture of everything. I offer 3 hoppers on sundays. I stick with whole pray, insects, meat and 10% fruit.
