She is and Argentine Black & White already about 1.5-2 years old as they told me at the pet shop. Shes missing 1 toe nail and her tail looks like its been broken before on the end (or maybe she had a problem shed?)

But she is super awesome!

They let her roam the floor at the pet store today and I watched her eat some cockroaches. She let the pet store guy clip her toenails with no problems and my son even stroked her head. Im not sure where the pet store got her they said they had had her about 2 weeks so Im assuming someone gave her to them or sold her to them that didnt want her anymore. I cant wait to bring her home!

Im sure Ill have plenty of questions for you all once I do. But her is something Ive heard go both ways that Ill get out of the way now...

Feeding eggs...shells or no shells? I was told by the pet shop that the shells help with skin/shedding.

Welcome to the forum! I've offered with shells and my GU would just crunch into them and ignore the shell leaving a scattered mess for me to clean. I can't remember seeing any pictures/videos of the shells being eaten(on purpose) and I don't know how they'd help with shed, it's almost pure calcium. While calcium is good, I think there are better and cleaner ways to offer it than in eggshell form. Be sure to check out Bobby's care-sheet(viewtopic.php?t=20) and if you have any questions this is a good place to get answers.

Good luck with your new GU and be sure to post pics.

Congratts on giving this guy a new home with proper care

Is the toe missing or just the toe nail? Although I'm sure the day it broke was a rough day, the broken tail shouldn't hamper the animal in the future...

How big is he/she (length and weight)?

Is it a boy or a girl? At 1.5 ~2 years you shuold be able to feel two little bumps (size of a bb) just below the base of his tail. Boys have bumps, girls don't...

Humidity has a lot to do with healthy shedding, but diet can as well. Eating sea food (fish or crustations) or mixing cod liver oil helps. Baths help too although I've heard over bathing can wash oils out of the skin.

As mentioned, egg shells are almost all calcium. I've crushed egg shells up very small and mixed it into Ground Turkey along with the egg yolks. I've also mixed egg shells into scrambled eggs (along with meat and/or vegetables).

Although I wouldn't rely on egg shells alone as the calcium source.

Its a female. Its just the toenail that is missing they didnt seem to have noticed it at the pet shop.

Im not quite sure of her length or weight yet. Ill post some pics as soon as I bring her home.
