I knew they grew fast but...

I never anticipated the kind of growth I have seen from my Red Tegu! I recently kept a log of his growth and it is amazing! I have't seen most weeds grow this fast.

First measurement: 10in

10 days later: 11.5in

8 days later: 13.5in

3.5 inches in just over 2 weeks is awesome. not to mention an almost triple in weight ( I really need a scale ). I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it for myself. I am impressed. I am also eager to see how his growth spurts change and improve.

Most people dont' and won't believe it unless they see it. When you tell them about this little 10 - 12 in reptile you got about 9 mths ago and it practically triples in length and size. They usually think you're lying pics or not.

At the same time it's just different to actually see it, hands on for yourself

I agree with bubblz. Lol if some body would have told me(and some did) that that little 9" tegu I got in august/09 would be 4' by march/10 I wouldn't have believed them, I can now say I'm a true believer lol

I had the same experience but my Red girl has been bruminating, she hasn't eaten a thing and is only awake once or twice a week. I can't wait for her to up full time. She maybe has grown while she is asleep about 1" as far as I can tell.
Gordo, whom is an adult already just puts on weight. He is awake almost every day now and has moved from about 8# to 10# in a month.

I thought about getting a scale when Guru was younger. Now they're large enough to be weighed at petsmart (banfield) lol. They really are eating/pooping machines when they're younger. Take lots of pictures! I'm still "wow-ed" when I go through Gurus baby pics, that was only a year and a half ago!

I don't believe that you guys are lying about the growth of your gu's in anyway. but i have two younger gu's that do not by any means grow that fast.. what are you guys doing miracle grow or something?!

Kodo has put on approximately an inch per month since I got him. He was around two feet in June when I took him home from the pet store and now he's within a few inches of being three feet. More amazing is the girth he's put on; he was pretty lean and now he's really filled out. The base of his tail is nearly as thick as my index, middle, and ring fingers put together.
