Okay so there was a guy in my area that was going into the air force and needed a new home for his tegu. Now I've seen way tk many reptiles on Craigslist in my area that have been neglected because they didn't know what they where gettin into (a lot of retics, burms, boas, tegus, monitors etc....) and I didn't want this little guy to be another. I have quite a bit of knowledge on tegus. They are my favorite lizard and I have always wanted one. So I've done erase arch and can properly care for them so I took him in because I have more time to look for the perfect home than the guy
did. I found a home for him but that's not the reason I'm posting this. So today I was taking pictures of him and when he Flicked his tongue it kind of made a saliva noise. Y'know? I'm probably over reacting as I'm all ways scared of my reptiles being sick. I don't see any liquid around mouth or nose. It's just the noise. It sounds like when you push your tongue on the top of your mouth then open it an seperate them. It makes that sloshy I guess. I don't know how to explain it. I don't think it's serious I just rather be safe than sorry. I have a reptile vet near but I don't trust them. I feel they don't have any experience or knowledge. The temps: basking spot= 103 °f hot side air temp=85-90°f cool side=Around 80°f.
Humidity stays around 60%-75% some times going to 90 but just for a minute or two (right after misting and turning on the fogger ) he eats well. And is active if I wake him up and kind of get him out of his hiding place. And I've seen him drink water. So am I just over reacting. I really think I am. I think it's just the movement of his tongue leaving his mouth moves the saliva or something.
Oh by the way. I'm bran. New here. Sorry this is such a long post
