I want to start feeding him out side, but i think the harness i use would hinder the eating process and dont want him to choke. I also want some type of restraint so he cant just run for shrubs. A dog crate would work and I can find one im cl for cheap im sure, anyone else have this problem or tips/opinions

big tegu, lots of poo and pee, as i walk him in the bin out side he gets covered in pee and poo. Not a pleasant smell either.

Can you walk him before he eats? I know grass can stimulate them.
That's why I feed in the tub, though. Pee goes down the drain and the rest of it is easy to pick up with some tp and I flush it. Even if they get some on them it's easy to hose them down.

Yep, the tub makes a great feeding bin...we put down a towel so the tub bottom doesn't chill him and for some traction.... He eats from his plate, towel gets removed, and then he immediately gets his warm water soak. Always has a bm within a few minutes. Then he gets a gentle rinse and couch time.

Yep....agree with Tora....tub is the way to go. Super easy clean up, for messy food that escapes the plate, Gu poo, etc. I would recommend putting a towel down while the eat though....so they don't slip and slide while they are trying to eat. Then remove the towel, run some warm water and voila....clean tegu! Make sure to hit tub with a quick spurt of bleach afterward and rinse well.
(oh, and if you have children, get them their baths early before your husband takes over the tub with reptile care....lol!)
