Hey guys im new here and i am looking for my first tegu, i have been doing some reaserch on care for tegus. I have decided i want a argentine black and white tegu, i am looking for a female juvinile or adult but not to old, and i don't have to much money, so im looking for a tegu under 145 dollars, i have many other reptiles such as 2 bearded dragons, 4 leopard geckos which are for sale, and a crested gecko. I would like the tegu to be very freindly not looking for anything aggresive.

- I also have youtube channel, its called dsfishtanks and i have many videos on my reptiles.

Welcome. You're probably going to have better luck finding a tegu after May. There aren't many people looking to sell/ship tegus during the winter because of the temps. You can always check out your local craigslist ad's. People in my area are flag happy so the tegu ad's usually disappear pretty fast. If you decide to buy something locally feel free to post pictures and info on this site, many of the members are more than happy to help you determine if it is a healthy tegu.

I don't mean to be insulting but how are you planning to care for a tegu if you are only able to spend $145 on it? When I got my tegu I spent close to $500 right off the bat. $150 for him, light fixtures, MVB bulbs, substrate, cage decorations, supplements. I'm sure it would have been way higher if I had to make his enclosure but I was lucky enough to find one for $50 on CL. Food can be expensive as well.

I didn't mean 145 for a whole setup i ment for just the tegu, i am going to be building a 6 foot by 3 foot enclosure (unless i can find a large enclosure on craigslist) plus outdoor enclosure that will probably 8 feet by 6 feet this summer. With the enclosure and all the supplies i have planned i plan to spend around 450 to 600 dollars, Sorry to make you confused.

You will probably have to buy a hatchling for that price. You might get lucky and find someone wanting to get rid of an adult/juvie quickly though.

I found a argentine black and white tegu on craigslist for 200 dollars with the enclosure and some food they have left over its in vermont, he looks healthy if you want to check him out, just type in tegu in the search bar for vermont on craigslist.
