Misidentification

So what other types of lizard have people mistaken your tegus for? Kodo has been misidentified as the following:
monitor (usually savannah or baby Komodo)
Argentine tegu (I was just impressed this person knew what a tegu was)
gecko
skink
chameleon
iguana
bearded dragon
basilisk
anole
Gila monster
snake (He's got legs! I thought everyone knew snakes were limbless, but I guess I was wrong)
plastic lizard (A very rare species, indeed. Lol)

I usually get alligator, iguana or monitor lizard.

Although my sister tells people I have an alligator, crocodile or dinosaur,.. never gets tegu right. By the time it gets back to me they know I have some type of large lizards but are not sure of what they are.

I get Komodo dragon, monitor a lot. I did get iguana which I always think is weird. Sometimes people ask me about the tongue and is it somehow related to a snake. ????????

I once got asked if Kodo was going to turn into a snake. I had to explain to the gentleman that it was a lizard and not a Pokemon and it wasn't going to evolve into some totally new creature.

i take pokey to school sometimes after its over and everyone there has a complete spaz fit and freaks out. its really funny to tease my friends with it too

People ask me if my mexican black kingsnake is venomous. Someone even once asked if he was a black mamba lol.
I opened the door to one of those door to door church people with Odin in my arms once. Made him leave pretty quick. He made no comment about the tegu, but kept nervously glancing at it. He probably had no idea what it was.

That's like when someone called one of my macaws, the blue and gold, a parakeet! Or when EVERYONE calls my Kinkajou a cat or a ferret lol.

haha I'd be like, yes sir, his legs are going to just fall off one day and then he will gain a bunch of muscles in his body and turn into a whole different animal!
