Writing this article hoping it helps those with any missing tegu out there. My little guy escaped his enclosure, my heart dropped and I felt instant guilt when I turned on his light for his usual basking hours and he didn't appear. Where could he be. Is he safe. What is he getting himself into. What now I tell myself. First research, second search but from what you see on the Internet a missing tegu can be hidden ANYWHERE! Have no fear though they are animals of instinct. Here's a great tip that helped me find my little dude (Mr.Giggles) instintly well faster than the usual days to more than a week that it could take. Grab some mice or rats place them in a small see through container or critter keeper in the room you believe your tegu is in. Along with the mice and or rats in a container making noises with thier little feet turn on the basking light and play the 1 hour mouse sound effect on YouTube your tegu wont be able to resist and come running out to make an attack be prepared with a towel or soft blanket to catch your tegu when you see him coming out Goodluck and safe hunting (remember be patient it took 45 minutes of the mouse sound effect playing, light being on and mice making petter patter noises for him to get his instinct to come out and hunt)
