Moisten the substrate? how often?

Every couple days I dump a half to 1 cup water on the substrate (coco husk). at least once a day I spray it with water. humidity levels look great. only had tegu 6 days now, all is looking good. just wondering if too much, too little, worry about mold? how often to change the coco husk?, tegu is probably a month old (6 inch from snout to end of tail) maybe more - looks like hes getting bigger. The temp aquarium he's in now shows good moisture. pic attached

To much can lead to scale rot. I’d leave atleast a portion of the substrate a little dry. If he wants to dry himself he needs atleast a small area to do it. I currently leave half completely dry, that and his basking light drys it out anyway lol. Humidity is import but a good diet is more important for
A healthy shed. About the coco husk keeping it clean daily it can last a long time.’ Since my sev normally goes number 2 in the bathtub or the floor of the bathroom it doesn’t need much changing at all. Every 6 months or so.

To avoid mold and scale rot, I simulate “rain” every week or two. I really drench the place. His room also has an overturned plastic storage bin (with an entrance and extra moisture-holding substrate) that stays very humid even when the cage dries. That way if things are too wet he can hang out in dry areas, but he always has humidity if he needs it.
