There are many brands out there but for every basking-reptile owner, a temp gun is a MUST HAVE! Dial gauges and digital probes do not measure surface (basking) temperature. Temp guns make great stocking stuffers too!

I use both because they measure different things. The temp gun will measure surface temperature i.e. the basking spot. Digital or analog thermometers measure ambient temps. Having both in the correct range are important aspects of husbandry for any reptile.
