im looking for personal experiences.
how long did you wait to trim your tegus nails? at what size did you begin trimming (if you even trim them)
ive got pretty sensitive skin and she tears me up sometimes. I was just wondering when i should start trimming or if i really even should.

thanks in advance to any and all help.

You can do it now,.. no need to wait their nails can get pretty sharp. Best to start while they're young to get use to you probably having to restrain them and or hold their feet for a bit. There's a thread about it in Tegu Articles.

If you're not comfortable with clipping take them outside on a harness and leash. Then let'em walk around on the concrete with a little tension on the leash.

Sometimes rocks a piece of concrete or something inside the enclosure helps also.

also u should use dog or cat nail clippers becus the regular clippers will crush the nail often splintering it . i also use a good finger nail file to round of the sharp edges after the cut . or leashed up on sum cement for a bit workes good also.

thanks for all the advice guys:)
her new eclosure build should begin soon, so ima look for some nice slate for her to climb on and scratch.

unfortunately taking her outside isnt an option at the moment, its around 25-30* degrees outside.

With all of my tegus i used the same method, get a large bath towel, wrap em up good and pull each limb out, 1 at a time, when they are smaller they will resist so i start at about 18" when they get older they may still resist at first but will quickly calm down
