New Member Cant find B&W hatchlings So Cal

Searching for a B&W hatchling Tegu (arg). I cannot find any anywhere for months . I live near long beach 90706 , Does anyone here with more knowledge be able to help .

Search fauna and the classifieds ad on thks site. You will most likely need to have one shipped to you but I believe someone on here found somebody with some and is having one delivered today, look for his post there is the name of the lady who sold it to him also try kingsnake

FaunaClassifieds.com and KingSnake.com are two common places to shop online for live reptiles. Or you could look for a breeder that specializes in breeding Tegus. Preferrably someone who has been breeding them for a long time, has a solid reputation, and offers ideal communication and cooperation.

Bobby Hill (aka Varnyard) is such a guy and since you are already on his website/forum I'm quite sure it will be easy for you to get ahold of him

Check out freedom reptile rescue. They are a so-cal rescue that I talked with at the San Diego expo and the person I talked to said there are a couple breeders in the area so they get tegus all the time. They had two adults with them at the show.

try everglades herps, i saw they had arg black and whites on their pricelist yesterday, where they come from or breeder reputation i do not know but its a lead if nothing else, last i checked bigapple herp had them too but i personally refuse to do business with them mostly considering the guy steve believes your not a reputable breeder unless your website is ranked really high (i had a bad meeting with him)

Thanks alot , I just found out that a reptile super show is coming close to me but not sure about any of the breeders u know might just wait for a hatchling from varnyard , hope they will be there even better lol

you know i was doing the same thing last year, going from store to store looking to get a tegu, and i ended up running across bobby's site just by accident and it was 0330 on a saturday and i called him to leave a message. about 5 minutes after my call he was calling me back and he brought up a very good point. " you have breeders of tegus that only sell direct from them and then those that sell direct and to pet stores. the breeders that are selling to stores are not going to sell thier best looking animals to stores because they know that they will get a higher price selling them direct." meaning that getting a random animal from a store means you are more than likely getting somebody's "B-squad". also you dont usually get the luxury of raising them from pretty much the beginning of thier lives. most of the time they are already 6 months or more and dont like humans. the one store i found here in orange county. ca they guy reached in and they attacked his hand so what did he do? smacked them away and rudely grabbed one. needless to say i didnt buy one of his argentines. i went right home and placed my order with bobby. my advice is to find a breeder with a great rep (Varnyard-Herps) and go with them even if you have to wait a little while longer. that just goives you more time to set up the perfect home.

Thanks everyone for your help in my search and great advice . I was able to get a beautiful hatchling from Rambling Rose her last one I believe . I posted pics in the new member forum under ,Hello from Los Angeles .
