I have a 3 year old Argentine black and white tegu , she's a rescue i have had for about a week or two. She is harmless inside loves to free roam and cuddle. But as soon as she's in that sun light its like her wild instinct comes into play . I've tried staying low so she doesn't seem like a prey but she leaps and trys tp bite me and run off in the yard . Like i said completely different inside doesn't run off can stand over her and clean while she's in the room but outside seems to be a diffrent story . Any input would be great thanks !

I also live in calgary alberta so there is no way she was a wild tegu. Would have been a captivity breader as an import would cost more then there sold for .

Yea I have a similar problem that seems to be getting worse when it comes to outside! I was thinking of making an outdoor enclosure for the summer. My guy doesn't ever bite but he fights to high hell to get away...most of the time. Otherwise he's great!

It might be a freak out of sudden openness that they're not accustomed to. Mine live outside until late fall when I bring them in to sleep. They are docile.

So, could just be a matter of it being familiar to them.

I know there docile but how do I curve that behavior ? Lots of people talk of pinning them down till there calm but i dont feel right doing that almost feel as if it would cause more fear towards outside .

Also get what your saying Walter but i just can't get her out there for more than 10 seconds to make her familiar with it .

I understand. Well, when on occasion my male doesn't want to be held but I need for him to be held, so I hold him tight by my side- fully restrained. While he's struggling, I tell him "no, no, no" but more conversationally. He gives-in under a minute, and I speak nicely to him afterwards. He's still tame. I know of no other way. I'm easy going with him and seldom force him to stay, but I'M the boss.
