my tegu gave me a scare the other week he had a rather pale poop. Due to 7 years working in medicine I immateriality freaked thinking it could be insufficient bile output due to conditions such as cholecystitis, gallstones, giardia parasitic infection, chronic pancreatitis, hepatitis, or even cirrhosis..
I manages to calm myself down because there were no other symptoms and wait a day ..poop was back to normal in a day.
the only thing that changed in her diet was I gave her chicken trimmings with calcium and multi vit powder on it,
usually she eats chicken necks or whole pray so I do not frequently supplement that amount anyways.
so the other day I tested the theory and yet again pale poop!
I am assuming that it is just her body dumping all the unneeded supplements.. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this as well with there Gu?

I heard feeding mineral and calcuim together they cancel each other out or don't react well together so I have always avoided it.

Yeah usually the vitamins have calcium in it already, so you can really overdo it by using both at the same time.

Jmulley6, what type of Ca++ are you using? Perhaps its one of the less soluble types, made of the oyster shells, and therefore its simply passing unchanged in the BMs. just my thought ;o)

The difference in solubility of various calcium sources is a matter of 10% or less. I have seen pale tegu poo before. I was feeding ground turkey and mixed quite a bit of calcium with it. Since they stay in the garage, they are subject to ambient temperatures and sometimes it flucuates if it is a raining day, etc. In this case it had been a bit cool. I've also noticed a difference if there is a high fat content.

it is ZooMed repiti calcium without d3 which is a precipitated calcium carbonate. the mulit vit was Zoomed Reptivite also contains calcium carbonate, so together probably too much Ca.. (swwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa) < oops Tegu on keybored!!
there was no change to ambient temp but the chicken scraps did had a bit of fat stuck to them. so it was probably just the combination of things.
