Hi,

I have a extreme giant tegu that just turned one year old on June 28th. I just got him about 2 months ago from someone who was selling him.

I've noticed that the last week that he seems to be either "limping" or "waddling" and have seen him "throw up" his food and then re eat it?

I've tried calling bobby at vanyard as he is one of his but have not gotten a call back as of yet and I'm worried. Should I be?

Please help.

Temps: 100 degrees - Humidity 70ish %

Diet: Mon: Ground Turkey with Cod Liver Oil
Tues: Liver
Wed: Scrambled Eggs
Thurs: Ground Turkey with Cod Liver Oil
Fri: 2 frozen thawed Hoppers

Calcium on all without D3

What are the cool side temps? I would cut out the scrambled eggs and add a bit more whole prey (rats, chicks, fish)

So are you saying this could cause the vomiting and or limping?

So can i feed more rodents/chicks? How many should I give him each day?

Fish? What kind?

Thank you

Calcium deficiency could be an issue. I don't like supplements for this reason. I was feeding about 80% whole prey to my tegu. For fish I fed tilapia and whole raw shrimp.

I've never jewed of calcium deficiency causing vomiting. You may want to take him to a vet. He may have parasites.

Hello,
I have noticed the same thing happened on my tegu Gogon he is 8 years old. It looks like a regurgitation and usually happen in 24 hours after eating.
Sometimes at the morning when we take him out for basking he did that and re- eat the food he ate 1 day before. I think tegu don't have the strong muscular ring at the digestive tract so that's why it happens...(different with monitor lizards....

as long as he is eating again normally i won't worry, but if it happen oftenly i am concern about the impact like aspiration pneumonia....so I try to be very careful especially after big eating...not moving him to many...

I am not sure about the limping....the calsium deficiency usually not directly caused limping,...but I hope it's only because of sprain or something else mild. I think contact Mr Bobby Hill is a very good idea and I am sure he will be gladly help.........
