I am wondering what should or need to do to get my tegu (Dino) to eat more? All he seems to want to do is burrow. I am going to try feeder mice tomorrow or some pinkies. He will eat a couple bites of ground un cooked turkey that I sprinkle with calcium but then is done and spends most of day burrowed with sometimes coming out to bask. Any help is appreciated

The breeder said he was approx 2 months old. I have not measured him but I will attach a photo. I have to add though he gets a lot of energy and is not lethargic.

Are your temps and hot spot correct. Whole prey should be a large part of his diet anyway but he could also be trying to transition into burmation

Well his basking spot is between 115-124 and his cool side is around 80 and when he burrows it’s 75 and humidity level stays between 68-75. I use organic top soil.

Dino could still be finding his feet in his new home .... Also try some bugs, I know when I got Alpha his main diet was the bugs and everything else was just on occasion (which has now changed)....Dino could also be slowing down due to the time of year and this could be why his appitite is poor.

Ok thanks, I tried feeding him a feeder mouse ( Already dead ) and he just ignored it lol. He likes boiled eggs with calcium sprinkled on them. Ima try some other bugs and see but it just might be the time of year too as you said. I was thinking of switching his substrate out from organic top soil what is some good subs to use or do you recommend leaving it as it really holds moisture good.

It's normal during this season. During the summer he'll eat like crazy but right now they slow down on eating. Right now he's just going to want to hide and sleep. Let him its find he wont starve to death.
