Hello, I got my first red tegu last month and he went into hibernation a couple of weeks ago. I am hoping he is fat enough. I was wondering if it is ok to wake him up every couple of weeks and check on him. I cought a glimse of him a couple days ago for 2 seconds. He saw me and ran back into his burrow. Can I wake him up and atleas soak him to make sure he is staying hydrated? When he was awake I kept him in an outdoor enclosure now that he is hibernating I have moved him to a platic tub with deep layer of cocofiber on my Lania. He could probably stay out in the outdoor enclosure all winter (I'm in Tampa, FL) but the cage is so big its easier to keep track of him when he is in the tub and since hes not taking in the sun's rays I figured it wouldnt hurt to keep him on my lanai. Any info would be great!
Thanks,
Jon
